A Motorcycle Weekend
Inspired by a photo contest, I took the opportunity to team up with Iron and Resin Clothing Company on Saturday, and a few friends on Sunday to fill my weekend with loud engines, vintage bikes, and the open road. On Saturday I went to Iron and Resin's Hooligan Derby, where vintage bikes collided with a dirt track in Ventura, CA. It was a great experience with a lot of competitive racing and friendly conversations. On Sunday I went up to Santa Ynez Valley and shot action/lifestyle shots of two friends riding on the open road. (It was going to be 3 riders, but one bike went up in smoke on the way out to Santa Ynez... oops) At a place called Happy Valley, that has few travelers(meaning no cops) I positioned myself in the back of my car with the hatchback up and camera dangling two feet from the road. With drivers ready we drove about 25mph up and down the road creating motion blur shots with varying success. Timing the car's speed, 2 bike's speed, and shooting at 1/30th of a second was an interesting challenge, and a fun one. We then cruised up to the mountains and got some beautiful sunset shots
After I submit to the photo contest I will share the photos I submitted but until then take a look at these.
